"The Rules" of Tiny Beasties in the Wild

Over the past few years, our research efforts here at The Gallery of Tiny Beasties have confirmed to us that Tiny Beasties are complicated and sensitive magical beings.

They may be small, but they are powerful - offering valuable Gifts.

They are able to arouse Curiosity, spark Gratitude, inspire Joy, offer Unconditional Friendship and maybe even Good Luck to their human Companions. 

Their positive influence can be subtle, but you can FEEL it.  It’s REAL magic – Old Magic, like the kind you find in fairytales and folklore.

We have also discovered that Tiny Beasties are capable of having negative influences on humans, in certain situations.  

Fortunately, those situations can be avoided if you just show the Beasties the Respect they deserve as powerful magical beings and avoid offending them.

This is consistent with folklore dating back thousands of years – powerful magical creatures almost always demand that you respect their boundaries or face the consequences. 

Boundaries should always be respected, of course, but this is especially true when you are dealing with powerful, magical creatures, tiny or not.

One must earn their magical Gifts by not betraying their Trust.  One must Honor their Rules to avoid Unfortunate Consequences.

This being the case, we here at The Gallery have worked hard to determine the nature and purpose of the Tiny Beastie “Rules” in an effort to help folks avoid the wrath of an angry Beastie.

The first thing to note is that every Tiny Beasties is unique and each one has their own particular quirks and personality, so it’s better to ask than assume.  But as we’ve gathered data and compared notes, we’ve identified some commonly observed attitudes, behaviors and phenomenon that have helped us understand how to honor our Tiny Beasties and avoid any unfortunate consequences.

We have found that most Tiny Beasties believe in something like Soul Mates.  They tend to be fiercely monogamous and can even be quite jealous and possessive when it comes to their human Companions. 

They believe their ONE Special Someone is out there, and that the best way to meet them is to be Noticed by them through the magic of a “random” encounter. 

Beasties out in “the Wild” Seek humans who are Curious and Observant, perhaps a bit Adventurous and Inquisitive.  If a human does not notice and does not introduce themselves by approaching them and getting to know them, such a human is not worthy of their Companionship.  It is an effective strategy, but it can often take awhile for it to bear fruit.

But Wild Beasties have faith that Luck and Fate will eventually align, leading their Special Someone to Discover them. 

For them, the THRILL of being FOUND by a human who is Observant and Delighted to Discover them is the primary goal, and they delight in rewarding their human with their friendship and Luck.

Such Wild Beasties believe that every Wild Beastie deserves their own Special Someone – a singular human Soul Mate to share their Love and Luck with.

This is why they are angered by Greedy humans who try to Collect more than one Wild Beastie, or try to Sell Tiny Beasties found in the Wild. 

These beings may be cute “monsters”, but they aren’t Pokemon – they are real magical creatures and they aren’t too keen on being Captured or Collected.  They desire to be cherished as Unique beings, respected and held in high esteem.

They are offended by the notion that they are products to be hoarded or sold.  They consider themselves free beings and attempts to control them will be met with righteous wrath.

If you have had the incredible Good Fortune of Discovering a Tiny Beastie in the Wild, don’t risk upsetting your special Beastie by being Greedy and trying to keep more than one for yourself.

Such a Betrayal can turn the Beasties’ powers of Luck from a Blessing to a Curse!

Instead of offering you Good Luck, you will find yourself plagued with a constant avalanche of Bad Luck…tiny Bad Luck, but still.  Every little thing will start to go wrong and you’ll find yourself on the brink of madness in no time.  I wouldn’t wish it on anyone!

  We here at the Gallery strongly recommend avoiding this punishment by Respecting the Wild Beasties’ Main Rule, which can be summed up in this cute little rhyme I made up:

For Everyone!

Just keep this in mind and you should be able to easily avoid any unfortunate mischief.

It also follows that offers to help Tiny Beasties find their Special Someone could very well be rewarded with Good Luck. 

If you can assist a Tiny Beastie in the Wild who is still Seeking their Special Someone in some way, you may find it quite rewarding!
