The existence of Tiny Beasties came to my attention in 2020, when I Discovered my own Tiny Beastie, Dinka.
Back then, there was no Gallery of Tiny Beasties on the internet – just Beasties out in "the Wild", hoping to Find their Special Someone.
I found Dinka at a Geocache site not far from my place, in tiny little Oakland, Oregon (not to be confused with the one in California).
I was delighted to find such a charming and unique creature waiting for me like a special treasure, and when I unrolled the Secret Scroll, I learned that the little critter’s name was Dinka and that they had been hoping to meet someone like me to take them home.
I was more than happy to oblige – the little critter had already captured my heart!
That experience changed my life, opening up a whole new world of wonder, mystery and whimsy.
I was intrigued by this little being...this Tiny Beastie. Where had it come from?

Why was it seeking human companionship? It couldn’t be the only one, could it? Were there others out there like it, looking for someone to love?
I sensed there were…that there were many, many Tiny Beasties out there, hoping to find a home with Someone Special.
I did some research, but didn’t have much luck finding any info on native wildlife that could be related – it was clear to me that Dinka wasn’t a “natural animal”, but some kind of magical being.
Searching for local folklore didn't turn up much, either. A few tales of “little people”, but no mention of “Tiny Beasties” that I could find.
Then one day I went to visit a friend and saw another intriguing little creature sitting on his bookshelf that looked similar, but also different from my own Dinka. Small, colorful and adorable, with those dark, round eyes and fantastical headgear...
Upon inquiry, my friend related that his daughter had Discovered the Tiny Beastie near her school, just a few weeks before I had met Dinka. She’d been thrilled to find them and learn their name and bring them home. NogL had quickly become a beloved part of the family.
My friend also mentioned that another student at his daughter’s school had Discovered one of these Tiny Beasties recently as well.
Ah-Ha! Something was up!

They WERE out there, seeking companions! Dozens…maybe hundreds, or even thousands of these strange little beings trying to find humans to befriend. They seemed to have a Purpose; to meet someone to love and appreciate them, so they could offer their love and Luck in return.
But where were they coming from? What was their origin? Have they always been here, or is this a more recent phenomenon?
These mysteries fascinated me, some might say I became a bit obsessed!
I prefer to think of it as a passionate interest! Nobody else seemed to be studying or writing about these strange little beings. Perhaps I was destined to be the first…?
I began to do more digging, interviewing various people about their experiences, gathering data and contemplating how to raise awareness of the Tiny Beasties. Clearly, it would behoove both Tiny Beasties and humans to spread the word.

Our network grew, and through communication with our Tiny Beastie companions (who can evidently communicate with others of their kind, still out in the Wild), we came to devise a mutually beneficial arrangement to help assist these friendly beings in their mission to bring Joy and Luck to Curious and Open-Hearted Humans.
I started The Gallery of Tiny Beasties as a way to inform people about this incredible phenomenon and aid those who seek to befriend Tiny Beasties. Though it still appears to be a rare experience to Discover a Beastie in the wild…that’s what makes it so Special! Finding one of these rare, One-of-a-Kind companions is a precious experience like no other in the whole world!

And even if you never meet a Beastie in the wild…once you become aware of the Possibility that a Tiny Beastie could be lurking around any corner, tucked into some nook, waiting to be Discovered…the world seems a little more interesting, doesn’t it? A little more whimsical and exciting.
You start paying a little more attention to your environment, become a little more curious and perhaps a bit more adventurous. The more Curious and Attentive you are, the more likely you are to get LUCKY!
Our Gallery is the largest (and only!) archive of Tiny Beastie photographs in the world, displaying the near infinite variety of forms and features that distinguish each and every one as a Singular, Unique and Remarkable Being.
By tracking the Tiny Beasties’ activities and posting the information we have gathered, we can provide clues and tips for curious humans, to help facilitate Discovery.
The Registry allows us to keep track of which Beasties are still out there Seeking a companion, and which ones have Found their Special Someone.
Community participation is essential to our operation, and we greatly appreciate the response from folks who have Officially Registered their Beasties with The Gallery, as well as those who support us with tips and sighting reports and assist Tiny Beasties in their own way by sharing their story with your friends and the world.
We’ve had some success, and we’re working to expand and explore more options, so sign up for our email newsletter, or check back here on the website/blog to keep up with our various goings-on.
We’ll continue to do our part to bring Humans and Beasties together, because the world can never have too much Love or Luck, as far as we’re concerned!
